Guido Leonardo Olave Reyes…

guido olave

Specializes in web and graphic Design, with a penchant for the 1980’s-era horror aesthetic. Movie-going was restricted to one old wooden theatre for residents of small town Taltal, Chile - where Guido was born - but he still made it a point to see all the 80’s classics as they were released. Olave was so inspired by the horror films he saw there that he began hand-sourcing naturally-occurring clay from the nearby hills to sculpt and recreate the creatures featured in many of them, particularly: an american werewolf in london, the fly, and scanners.

At 18, Guido entered University where he studied Graphic Design, afterward moving to Santiago to complete his masters in Design and Communications. By 2012, he had decided to give sculpture another try - harkening back to his old wooden theatre days. Olave ended up constructing his own unique blend of sculpting clay, comprised of a variety of oil-based clays and waxes. This new sculpting medium drew the attention of fellow horror and film effects sculptors, where guido found his niche and future project collaborators (such as erick sosa, the shiflett brothers, and jordu shell).

The connection most influential to guido was with none other than (fellow DAL elder) Chris walas. Olave attributes Many artistic opportunities he’s been able to participate in to his connection with chris.
